Gong Yoo, a famous Korean actor plays Seok-woo who’s a fund manager obsessed with his work in this 2016 zombie thriller film. He’s a workaholic, divorced single father who reluctantly agreed to her daughter’s birthday wish to see her mother in Busan. They decided to board a train from Seoul and became trapped on the speeding train because of a zombie outbreak. Seok-woo realises then how money is no longer important and is willing to risk everything to bring his daughter back to safety.
This emotionally charged movie was one of the biggest Asian blockbusters in 2016. Its success garnered the attention of Fox, Sony, and Gaumont that all fought for the rights of an English remake. Anyway, as usual there’s a nice watch spotted on one of the main characters. What other watch would match a successful fund manager and is resilient enough to fight zombies? You got it, it’s a Rolex.
The clasp shown briefly from the screenshots seem to be a Rolex but unfortunately can’t really tell much from the watch face except it’s a white or silver dial. My guess would be it’s a Rolex Oyster Perpetual Datejust II (Reference 116300) or a newer Rolex Oyster Perpetual Datejust 41 (Reference 126300) though I could be wrong. Since the movie was released in 2016, then it should be the older model Datejust II. The bracelet seems to match with the mix of high polish and brushed links. It also has a cyclops for the date. The sporty look of the watch seems to fit his character well. What do you guys think?
