In this 2011 action movie, Liam Neeson plays as Dr. Martin Harris who’s an American biologist attending a conference in Berlin. After a car accident, he wakes up from coma only to discover that his identity was taken by someone else and even his wife does not know who he is. With the help of Gina the taxi driver, he sets out to prove who he is and find out why people are trying to kill him.
Being a WIS(Watch Idiot Savant) which is a psychological disorder for watch obsessed people :P, first thing you do when you spot a nice watch is to try and find out what is it. In the movie, his watch played an important role with him having to trade it temporarily in exchange for some help. It was also emotionally important to him as well as it was a gift from his wife that has some engraving on the back with their initials and a date. It was a general consensus with the help of the internet that this watch is the Rolex Deep Sea-Dweller (RDDS).
I’m not a luxury watch expert and own none(not yet), so I had to check the internet for some info on this piece. The Rolex Deepsea and the Rolex Sea-Dweller are actually both from the same Sea Dweller series. They are very similar but the main difference is that the Rolex Deepsea is water resistant to 12,800 feet(3,900 meters) and this is confirmed by the caseback which clearly shows this. The Rolex Sea-Dweller is only water resistant to 4,000 feet(1,220 meters).
Also the Deepsea case diameter is larger at 44mm while the Sea-Dweller is originally smaller at 40mm. However, Rolex increased the Sea-Dweller to 43mm in 2017. Other unique features of the Deepsea are a Helium excitement valve and an extra thick 5mm sapphire crystal. The Rolex Deepsea Sea-Dweller retails for around $12,050.
