In this 2013 action movie, Channing Tatum plays as police officer John Cale who has just been denied his dream job with the Secret Service of protecting the President of the United States. Not wanting to let down his daughter with the news, he takes her on a tour of the White House only to be raided by a heavily armed paramilitary group. John must then take matters into his own hands and use his former military combat skills to save his daughter, the President and take down the mercenaries from doing more harm.
Surprisingly and coincidentally, 2013 seems to have multiple movie releases with a similar plot like Olympus Has Fallen. In this movie, Channing Tatum can be seen wearing a classic military Bulova 96A102 watch. He seems to be wearing the watch on the underside of his wrist similar to what John Wick did? Maybe it’s a habit of all the Johns out there?
The Bulova 96A102 is a reissue of the hacking mechanical watch made for the US armed forces during World War 2. This military inspired watch is obvious with those large lumed arabic numerals, Art Deco inspired hands and a seconds subdial. The sandblasted stainless steel watch measures at 40mm in diameter but a rather long lug to lug of 50mm. It’s 11mm thick thanks to the Miyota quartz movement. The domed acrylic crystal adds to the vintage look and comes paired with a nice green canvas strap for that 20mm lugs. Did I mention the watch is less than $100 but unfortunately doesn’t seem to be in production anymore or to be found anywhere. Nevertheless, here are those wrist shots below.
