Ryan Gosling who got an Oscar nomination in this 2016 romantic musical drama plays as Sebastian Wilder, a struggling jazz pianist. Charming and soft-spoken, he’s drawn to Mia by their common desire. But with success, they face decisions that begin to fray their love affair. Here’s the trailer:-
This movie is set in modern-day LA but with a 1950s style and the wrist watch seen in the movie fits Ryan’s mid-century dressing style like a glove. Ryan Gosling is known to be a vintage watch enthusiast having worn them frequently when not shooting. The watch spotted in the movie seems to be an Omega from the 1950s maybe more precisely 1954? Since it says only Omega on the dial, this does not belong to the Seamaster or Constellation line. It also does not have the word Automatic which means it’s most likely a manual wind movement. The case also appears to be solid yellow gold in certain lighting and Gosling can be seen wearing it throughout the movie.
Anyway I think vintage Omegas do have a nice charm to them and with the smaller case size it looks really classy. Check out the lovely wrist shots in the movie. Vintage Omegas sold now have definitely increased in price having found one on Amazon (Omega 1954) which does look very similar to the one seen in the movie.
